Héctor Allende O., in 1975 obtained the Degree of Electrical Engineer and in 1978 the Degree of M.Sc. in Mathematics, both at Federico Santa María Technical University, Valparaiso, Chile; later, in 1981, obtained the degree of M.Sc. in Mathematical Statistics, at the University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. In 1988 he obtained the degree of Dr. rer. Nat. in Statistik at the Technische Universitaet in Dortmund, Dortmund, Germany.

He is currently a Professor at the Department of Informatics at Federico Santa María Technical University, Chile. His work is developed in the field of Computational Statistics, Machine Learning, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition with Time Series Applications. His research interests include deep neural networks, intelligent data analysis, and data science. He has published more than 50 mainstream magazine articles, 2 books, several book chapters, conferences and research reports. Currently teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Machine Learning, recognition of patterns in data mining, advanced neural networks, and Computational Methods in time series in the Department of Informatics of the Federico Santa María Technical University, Chile.

Dr. Allende is a member of the International Association for Computational Statistics (IASC) and the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).
